Selihot movie and service, Saturday, September 5, 9:30 p.m.
Field of Dreams (1989). Not much needs to be said about this movie. It’s about faith, reconciliation, reconnection, and closure, the themes of the high holydays. If you haven’t seen it, or haven’t seen it since it came out nearly 40 years ago, take this as an opportunity to prepare yourself for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Sunday, September 6 – Kever Avot cemetery visits
It is customary to visit the graves of parents and other relatives at the season of the Yamim Nora’im, Days of Awe, and recite a memorial prayer. Rabbi Krishef will be available to say personal memorial prayers at the graves of your loved ones.

Please welcome Rabbi Avinoam Sharon, our High Holiday cantor this year. He is a graduate of the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County and the Midrashiat Noam Yeshiva High School (Pardes Hanna, Israel). He completed his undergraduate studies in linguistics and Semitic languages at Columbia University and studied Bible at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Following graduation, he studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and later at the IDF School of Military Law and The Hague Academy of International Law. Upon retiring from the IDF with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he earned an M.A. in Talmud and Bible from the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Schechter Institute and was ordained by the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary (JTS) in Jerusalem. He is also a graduate of the Jerusalem School of Cantorial Arts and Music.
